Ricardo Puémape was born in Lima, Peru. He was carving sculptures in chalk and wood as a small child. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in December 1975 (with emphasis in drawing, oil painting and sculpture). He then studied Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University at Blacksburg. He obtained a Master of Architecture Degree from Virginia Tech in July 1978. Ricardo is on the teaching staff at the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria where he teaches stone sculpture and wood sculpture. Some of his sculptures are in private collections in Europe and the United States.
Ricardo is a practicing Registered Architect in the State of Texas.
